Artist's Comments

This is another troll from an old Inuit story. She is called Amautalik and she takes children and puts them in a cage made of drift wood and whale bone that she wears on her back. Then of course she eats them.

wonderful illustration. It's rare to see Inuit based art.

It's at the same time disgusting, sad, and adorable....lots of mixed feelings in this image! Kudos.

I love trolls, this is such good work, thank you! Being of square head decent and having grown up with stories of Trolls, I will enjoy seeing more.

Larry, this is so fantastic!

Great movement and exertion on the part of the troll. Great weight and balance in the composition. It's a simple image with strong forms and a great sensitivity to the beauty of the natural world.

I think she looks regretful over eating wee children, and very distraught at the moment you captured in this painting.

I really like the mood that you caught in this one...the main character's face is really intriguing...way to go!

I think being eaten would be a most awful way to die...
Lovely picture, though.
