This is the first version I did of this image for the Magic set Shadowmoor. They had me go back in and change the colour of the sky so that it would fit with the rest of the card set and help tell the story they wanted to tell.
I like a lot the faded colors you use into your watercolor works, but here I'm captivated by these bright green tones which are especially luminous in contrast with the greyish environment ! That's absolutely great ! And the nkelled character is very cute whith this little rounded nose (or so it seems to me with this size) and so serene expression. Beautiful !
I really did like the style of elves from shadowmoor block. I just really liked something that was different from the normal looking elves I guess. Nice work all around, the background looks great and I really like how the characters pop out at you from the dark background. Most for the art work from Magic now a days are done digital instead of traditional and it kinda hurts the eyes sometimes like they're trying to compensate from something.
Mmmm... amazing. I love the effect the atmosphere makes... I absolutely love this! I stinkin' LOVE those tree roots! I look at stuff like this and just think, "How do they know to do that that way?" It makes me so jealous. And makes me want to practice! Perspective/backgrounds... dread.
Is there a written story that accomponies these lovely elven maidens?
This is one of my favorite pieces from you gallery, I like the colours and the mood of this one. Also the sharpness and the way you do your shadows and highlights are really impressing. Looking forward to seeing more of you work.
